This Week's Loves

Simple Sophistication

So, I kind of have a crush on J.Crew's Scalloped Carrie Cami... Of course, I love its namesake quality — its pretty scallop detail. But, its dainty, little straps and the refreshingly airy feel of the ivory version, pictured above, are also speaking to me. And, it's silk! So, I can only imagine how buttery and luxurious it would feel...

The only thing deterring me from scooping this little puppy up is the price tag... Therefore, instead of adding it to my cart and clicking buy without remorse, I've been shopping around for some comparable, yet more affordable alternatives. So far, my qualifying candidates include:

...the Scallop Trim Reversible Barcelona Cami from Express, the Racer Front Scallop Edge Cami Top from Asos, and, also from Asos, the Soft Gathered Pretty Cami Top. ...and, yeah, I realize that the last option doesn't include any scallop detailing, but, in my opinion, its adorable peplum shape more than makes up for it ;).

What do you think, guys? Do you have any other options at the ready?

Roots vs. Wings

My heart wants roots. My mind wants wings. I cannot bear their bickerings.

— E.Y. "Yip" Harburg

Thanks to writer, poet, and lyricist E.Y. Harburg, perhaps most famous for writing the lyrics to the song Over the Rainbow from The Wizard of Oz, for this quote reminding me that a lot of people deal with this inner struggle, not just me ;).

Allbirds Wool Runners

A year ago, I couldn't have imagined wearing wool in any way, shape, or form, let alone as exercise gear. I just imagined it would be itchy and suffocating while holding in all the excess moisture. ...ick. This past winter, though, I became a wool sock convert after trying SmartWool socks and realizing that wool actually has quite the opposite set of qualities. It feels soft and luxurious while maintaining a consistently pleasant temperature and wicking excess moisture away!

Now that I've been turned on to the power of wool clothing, the sneakers by Allbirds made from an "innovative wool fabric" have me curious. The company has deemed them "the most comfortable shoe imaginable" and they feature beautifully clean and modern styling with minimal branding. With all that clout, I'm definitely down to give them a go!
