Here, in the late summer of the midwest (ugh, I can’t believe I’m saying that already), the cornstalks, grass, and leaves are getting a little crispier, the air is starting to carry a faint scent of fall, and the thought of a bonfire to cut through the chill of the night is beginning to sound quite pleasant. In fact, we had our first bonfire of the year just a few nights ago! Yes, like it or not (I may or may not be in the “not” camp), the changing of the seasons is upon us and — I’m sure, if you’ve been a regular reader of Studio 116 for a while — you may have noticed a theme of change here as well.
Lately, I’ve been trying to stick more closely to a posting schedule — a playlist on Mondays, a meaningful anecdote of some sort on Wednesdays, and a list of things I love on Fridays. Though, as my utter lack of posts over the last several weeks has proven (sorry about that, guys), it seems that I can’t keep up with that demanding of a schedule with everything else I have going on. So, since it’s obvious that I need to change things up a bit, I've decided to go back to the drawing board to develop a posting schedule that I can handle a little better while also focusing even more on the quality of the content around here. I hope you all will stick with me through this process and, if you have any suggestions, please let me know!
My first step toward making this change will be to replace Monday's playlist posts with a series that I'm calling Lone Lyric. As the series title suggests, instead of featuring multiple songs, these posts will focus solely on one song. With this approach, I’m hoping to highlight only my favorite songs and create the opportunity to delve deeper into the qualities that make them so special.
The very first Lone Lyric post will be going live this Wednesday! I’m super excited and I hope you all love it! Also, keep an eye out on Friday for part 2 of Sea Change! In it, I'll explore the next step in my journey toward a better posting schedule.
