A couple weeks ago, I was assigned an illustration project at work. Initially, I was super excited since illustration projects are hard to come by at our web design firm. Eventually, though, the realization set in that I hadn't done an illustration in a while and my skills were probably rusty. To ease my nerves, I took to the internet to search for some inspiration and came up with the illustrators responsible for these three, cat-themed beauties.
From left to right:
- I love the textural, vintage-inspired style of this illustration by Zara Picken. The piece is entitled The Demon Cat. According to Picken's blog, it's part of a series inspired by "fairy and folk tales of the Irish peasantry." A print of this piece can be purchased from Picken's Society 6 shop.
- The mesmerizing jade tones and beautiful, flowing movement in this tiger illustration make it quite magical. It's part of a daily drawing series posted on the Daily Cat Drawings Tumblr site. ...if only I had the dedication to stick with a daily drawing series ...*sigh.*
- The lovely color palette highlighted by intricate lighting and shading make this illustration, part of a series entitled Pinkerton's Little Big Adventure by Alena Tkach, something special. Not to mention that Pinkerton the cat is simply adorable. Check out the rest of the series, including a few very cool gifs showing the works in process, on Tkach's Behance portfolio.
