Among my designer friends, it’s no secret that Archer, designed by Hoefler & Frere-Jones, is my favorite typeface. I’ve written about it on the blog and used it in my fair share of design projects — you know, when it’s been applicable. Once, I even helped identify it to some poor soul on Pinterest who hadn't yet been introduced to its magnificence.
So, I found it ironic and eerily accurate when my results for “What Type Are You?,” a tongue-in-cheek quiz developed by world-renowned design studio Pentagram to equate the taker’s personality to that of a famous typeface, indicated that my personality was equivalent to that of Archer Hairline. ...slightly creepy, right? But, totally cool!
Even spookier is the accuracy of the quiz results’ description of the personality that I apparently share with Archer:
Archer Hairline is a modern typeface with a straightforward appearance, but one that has tiny outbreaks of elegance and tiny dots of emotion only apparent on closer examination.
If you are someone who is outwardly composed, but will occasionally run into the bathroom for a quick laugh or quiet cry before emerging to the world outwardly composed again, then Archer Hairline is your type.
Have you taken the quiz? Were your results as accurate as mine?
