Anyone who's been reading this blog for a while will know that I'm mildly obsessed with all things related to Pennsylvania German folk art. It has been the subject of most of my Culture Crush posts after all. Well, thanks to a breathtaking project by Sasha Vinogradova, part of which is pictured above, I may have developed a crush on Russian folk art as well!
Vinogradova's project details six different styles of Russian folk painting; Gorodets, Gzhel, North-Dvina, Zhostovo, Mezen and Khokhloma. Each style is distinct, beautifully stunning, and showcased on a skull! ...I'm not completely sure why skulls were chosen to present different styles of Russian folk painting, but I can say that that they do aid in creating a stunning display.
Be sure to check out the rest of the project on Behance. ...now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to find out more about Russian folk painting!
